Gem & Mineral Show in Costa Mesa This Weekend

The West Coast Gem and Mineral Show is being held in Costa Mesa this weekend: 5/15 - 5/17. The show comes to Costa Mesa about twice a year, once in May and once in November. You can access the show site here: http://www.mzexpos.com/westcoast_spring.htm

I usually go every year to the Spring show and pick up new gems and minerals for healing, psychic development and other purposes. Besides, who can resist the energy felt in these beauties? ;)

This time around, I'm specifically on the hunt for red gems and minerals. I'm looking at one or more of the following:
  • Ruby
  • Rhodochrosite
  • Red Tourmaline
  • Garnet
  • Carnelian

There are various properties of each of the stones.

  • Ruby: strength of leadership, individuality, pride, vitality & life force, and optimism.
  • Rhodochrosite: inspires forgiveness, compassion, rekindles friendships and brings hope.
  • Red Tourmaline: encourages new perspectives, balances all other views, and boosts confidence in communication.
  • Garnet: brings focus and order, helps dissolve confusion, and is a guide to peace and clarity of mind.
  • Carnelian: eases stress and anxiety, great for meditating on happiness and dream fulfillment.

While I'm not sure exactly what I'll end up with, I think each of these stones' properties can be of benefit.

The healing power of the color red has it's own properties. Red is stimulating and energizing to the body. It's useful in the treatment of colds, depression, lethargy and boosts circulation. It excites the nervous system and increases feelings of optimism.

Red also activates the base chakra and enables us to ground ourselves if our spiritual work tends to "keep us in the clouds". I'm looking to specifically keep a red bracelet on my right wrist to help keep me grounded and protected. Sometimes working with spirit and energy, I tend to remain open after sessions. The use of the bracelet can help by keeping me grounded, have the added properties of the stones, and act as a reminder for me to close my energy and protect myself.

I'll head out to the show on Saturday and see what beauties I can add to my collection.

Blessings in Light,
Karen
